Two Minutes of Me Blabbering

I occasionally drop a video into my illustrious YouTube channel. That’s a line I don’t think I’d have ever thought I’d be writing back in the day, but welcome to the world, right? I am thinking about it that way because today I decided that I’d go ahead and let you all see the little two-minute thing I did on 1100 Digital Stories in an Analog World (which you might have heard is Kickstarting this week!). Usually I struggle a bit to make these things work. I like the idea of video, but back when I was writing the stories in this volume, the simple idea of having a YouTube channel alone was a ways off.

Which was fine. I’m not sure I’m a video kind of guy I guess, though I admit they are kind of fun to make.

This one was nice, too. Slick. Pretty much a one-passer, which probably says something about what the project as a whole means to me. In making it, I just thought “self, what do you want to say?” and then set about to say it, so it’s spontaneous and off-the-cuff. I should say also that I’d spend about an hour the night before looking at making a more high-end thing. Something with a little bling. In the end, I just didn’t feel it. This book is pretty much me back in the day, and every time I started to do something more highfaluting it just didn’t feel right.

In the end, that means you get something like this.

But also, in the end, I think I like. Which is the point, right? Maybe? I don’t know. You feel free to tell me if I’ve screwed up.

Anyway, check out the video above. There’s links there to do the Kickstarter or, if you’d just prefer to bypass all the pomp and circumstance of that platform, you can pre-order for the wide release (which will be December 1).
